Express Entry Explains

To speed the processing of economic immigration applications, apply to three programs. They are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. It is an application management system called Express Entry. They established it in 2015.

It assigns scores based on human capital qualities. These include age, work experience, language skills, vocation, and education. It uses the Comprehensive Ranking System. The best candidates will have the top chance to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for residency.

The department began inviting candidates in May 2023. They received invitations to take part in category-based selection rounds. They can join if they meet the requirements for one of the six new Express Entry draw categories:

  • Healthcare occupations
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades occupations, carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  • Transport occupations
  • Agriculture and agri-food occupations
  • Strong French proficiency

Candidates with these qualities must apply. They must fall under one of the three programs overseen by Express Entry. Nominees in the PNP get an extra 600 CRS points in Express Entry. This ensures that in a future draw, they will receive an ITA. An Express Entry candidate has 60 days to send their final residence application to the IRCC. They must do this after getting an ITA.
